Cameroon : A touristic destination since 2010
Cameroon is now a tourist destination recognized by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), draining 500,000 tourists in 2010. Hotels in Cameroon, including the Palace Hotel BANO were a great contribution to promote the emergence of tourism in Cameroon.
According to Baba Hamadou, Minister of Tourism, in 2010, Cameroon had in his hotel landscape 2,539 hotels in all categories, resumed into 5846 and 4690 beds.
Tourism accounts for 3% of the national budget for public investment. Minister of Tourism is considering this contribution to increase to 13% by 2035. According to statistics from the National Institute of Statistics, more than 9,000 tourism businesses are based in Cameroon. The tourism sector reported at the end of 2010 revenue of 25.64 billion FCFA from granting visas entry to the country. Airport stamps have raised 2.66 billion CFA francs in the same year. Various duties and taxes reported 59.142 billion CFA francs. The tourism industry generates nearly 60,000 jobs in Cameroon.
